These events provide leaders with essential updates from our policy specialist team on the latest policy developments and how they impact your school, college or trust. A few months on from the general election, what has the new government done in education, and what else do we expect? ASCL (Deputy) Director of Policy reflects on our engagement with the new Secretary of State and Ministers so far, what their priorities are, and how we're working with them to ensure the voices and views of ASCL members are central to their policymaking.

In this session we will share what we know about education funding for current and future years and consider both the direct and indirect impact of the new government's public spending decisions on our sector. We will provide updates on business operations including the Academy Trust Handbook, the new College financial handbook, ESFA assurance reviews, compliance and financial accountability and the sustainability and climate change agenda.

This session will look at the latest data, updates and evidence relating to safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, exclusions, SEND, mental health, wellbeing and RSHE. 
 
We will share the government's priorities for the year ahead and help you determine what’s most important to support progress in your setting. The session will also highlight examples of what we can achieve, even where the system challenges may feel intractable.

Curriculum, Assessment and Inspection: Evolution, not revolution

This session will consider the upcoming reforms to curriculum, assessment and Ofsted inspections, including the scope of the curriculum and assessment review, and what this might mean for schools and colleges in the coming months, the ‘pause and review’ of post-16 qualifications and the future of BTECs, the latest KS2, GCSE and A level data – and how to interpret it, the gaps in progress measures, the emerging outcomes from Ofsted’s Big Listen and key changes to ungraded inspections and complaints from September.
