Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders comments on the launch of a review into sexual abuse in schools.
Commenting on the launch of a review into sexual abuse in schools, Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said:
“Robust safeguarding is the number one priority of state and independent schools, and we welcome this review of safeguarding policies in the light of the horrific experiences recorded on the Everyone’s Invited website. We are pleased that Ofsted intends to work with representatives from social care, police, and victim support groups, as well as with school and college leaders, acknowledging that schools alone cannot be the solution. It is very valuable to have this range of input and insight. We look forward to seeing the terms of the review and to working with Ofsted.
“We also welcome the new helpline to support victims of sexual harassment and abuse in education settings, and thank the NSPCC for their work in running this support service.”
