Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders comments on the letter from headteachers supporting the Worth Less? campaign to all prospective parliamentary candidates.
Commenting on the letter to all prospective parliamentary candidates from headteachers supporting the Worth Less? campaign, Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said:
“We wholeheartedly support the action being taken by this grassroots campaign to ensure that prospective parliamentary candidates are appraised of the facts about school funding.
“This is a carefully considered analysis which sets out priorities in a clear and impartial manner for all political parties.
“It is right that the voice of headteachers should be heard on this crucial issue in the public interest in the pre-election period, and we hope no politician responds by shooting the messenger.
“The stark reality is that our schools and colleges face very significant challenges because of the ongoing funding crisis.
“They desperately need sufficient investment and a more sustainable approach to funding in the future from whichever party wins the General Election.”
