ASCL, along with other unions, have produced a heatwave protocol to help employers work together with union representatives to prepare for future heatwaves to ensure there is as little disruption to learning as possible and the health, safety and welfare of staff and pupils are protected. It also offers the opportunity to discuss adaptations to buildings to save money on energy bills, as well as ensuring comfortable working and learning conditions.
The protocol takes account of guidance from the DfE, Acas and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the unions involved are ASCL, Community, GMB, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU, UCU, Unite and Unison.
