Please note that following the legislative changes to the end of Key Stage 1 statutory assessments, revised
engagement model and
pre-Key Stage 1 standards were published on 15 April 2024. The updated guidance sets out the statutory requirements for using the engagement model to assess pupils who are working below the standard of the national curriculum assessments and not engaged in subject-specific study at Key Stage 2.
Although assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 is no longer statutory, schools are encouraged to use the engagement model, where appropriate.
