From 6 April 2025, the Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Act 2023 introduced statutory rights for eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of Neonatal Care Leave (NCL) and, if eligible, receive Statutory Neonatal Care Pay (SNCP).
This entitlement is in addition to existing parental leave rights and is designed to support parents during the challenging period when their newborn requires neonatal care.
