“We are absolutely delighted that the government have taken on board the recommendations we made in our consultation response, that clearly stated business leaders are not support staff and therefore should not be in scope for the SSSNB. This includes those working in the academy and maintained sector.
“As we have long argued, business leaders and other executive leaders who undertake whole school, college or trust responsibilities are an integral part of the leadership team. They should therefore be paid with parity to other leadership colleagues holding the same level of responsibility.
“There is currently no national pay framework that specifically recognises business leadership roles and as a result there is a disparity in the level of pay and recognition in these roles. We believe the time has come for business and executive leaders to fall within the remit of the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) and be included in the STPCD (School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document).”
