Many ASCL members believe that the move away from LA involvement in teacher induction is ideologically motivated rather than a genuine attempt to improve the system and may make quality assurance of this vital part of teacher recruitment and retention less transparent.
Many Teaching School Hubs (TSH) are already struggling to provide the range of services in their portfolio, even without adding the Appropriate Body (AB) role, and the geographical spread of schools for each TSH means that relationships are sometimes difficult to develop.
ASCL is particularly concerned about the potential for conflict of interest and lack of transparency between the different aspects of the TSH role, despite the best intentions of the TSHs themselves.
