ASCL strongly supports the continuation of formula sheets in maths, physics and combined science GCSE in 2023.

We believe that these should continue beyond 2023.

The exam boards should publish the formula sheets that will be used by students as soon as possible, certainly before Christmas 2022. This will allow centres to use them in their teaching, and in any mock assessments taking place in the new year.

We are disappointed that Ofqual and the DfE did not undertake a formal consultation on other adaptations to exams in 2023, particularly optionality and advanced information.
