ASCL strongly believes that a school’s curriculum should be determined by school leaders and governors and we welcome the autonomy given to schools to do this. ASCL makes a number of key recommendations in response to this consultation.
 
All schools need a challenging curriculum if all our students are to be able to compete globally. We need a curriculum that provides a firm foundation for all students, whatever their backgrounds, enabling them to succeed not just in modern Britain but in the modern world. This curriculum needs to be broad, balanced and motivational.
