It is particularly important that HEIs make use of the expertise of serving school leaders and teachers, not just in working with student teachers in school, but also in delivering the proposed out-of-school studies elements. A weakness of current models is the over-reliance on HEI staff who frequently are many years removed from practical classroom experience.
We would strongly support the concept of a Teacher Education Accreditation Committee, but would suggest that it should contain a high proportion of serving school leaders/ teachers.
