ASCL welcomes reform to the accountability system. However, we do not support the combined proposals in these joint consultations. We do not believe that the proposals deliver the sound principles set out at the start of this consultation.

We urge the government to delay the proposed implementation date for these changes to allow proper time to consider the sector’s concerns, particularly with the inspection consultation, to adjust the proposals accordingly, and for schools and colleges to prepare for change.
