Building on some of the issues raised at our last meeting plus feedback from our recent survey, this session will focus on the theme of belonging. This will be an opportunity to share knowledge and expertise and champion the voices of our community.
We provide members of the community with an open, safe and supportive space to discuss the following:
- What does belonging mean to you - how can we foster a sense of belonging as a leader and what are the challenges?
- Imposter syndrome - does it exist and how does it manifest itself in leadership? What useful strategies can be used for overcoming this if it is a barrier in leadership progression?
- The importance of a 'champion' - who has supported you in your leadership journey and how can we share experiences that can support others?

Staying grounded, staying in control, staying the course
Guest speaker: Patrick Crozier
We are delighted to welcome Patrick Cozier, a headteacher of 17 years, racial equity advocate, and passionate champion for fair outcomes for young people and leaders of colour.
Patrick will draw on his own leadership journey to explore the challenges that leaders from ethnic minority backgrounds so often navigate in silence: imposter syndrome, the weight of representation, and the strategies that keep you grounded when the pressure is on. There will be space for questions, reflection, and honest conversation.
This session is open to all ASCL members, whether you are already part of our Ethnic Diversity Community or are joining us for the first time. |
