Session 1- Welcome to SLT
In this session, Pepe Di'Iasio, General Secretary of ASCL, introduces the New to the Senior Leadership Team conference, designed to help new leaders navigate the evolving demands of the education sector. Presented in a flexible, self-paced format, the series offers the opportunity to dip in and out of content based on personal priorities and the challenges leaders face in real time. Drawing on his own leadership journey, Pepe highlights how the series supports leaders in building confidence, adapting to change, and thriving in their new roles.

Session 2- Challenging Inequity
In this session, Rachel Macfarlane reflects on "The Superpower of the Senior Leader" and how leaders can use their influence to drive equity across their school communities. Drawing on over two decades of senior leadership experience, including headship in both primary and secondary phases, Rachel explores how leaders can foster high-performance cultures that deliver for all learners, particularly those who are most underserved. The session offers practical insights and encourages leaders to harness their role to create meaningful, inclusive change.

Session 3- Living Out Your Values: Why Ethos Matters on SLT
In this session, Manny Botwe will reflect on the importance of living out your values as you take your first steps into senior leadership. Drawing on real examples and personal experience, he’ll explore how ethos isn’t just something written on a wall — it’s what you model in the day-to-day. This session will look at how values shape decision-making, build trust, and create the kind of culture where both staff and students can thrive.

Session 4- Reflections on How the Role Will Change You and How You Can Change the Role
In this session, Gurpall Badesha shares personal reflections on the rewards and realities of the role. The session highlights how leadership is a team effort, the difference you can make for young people, and why maintaining your own happiness and stability is key to thriving in the job.
