Supporting students through change and transition when a parent has incurable cancer

For students living with a parent’s incurable cancer, change can feel more difficult to manage. Transitions that may already bring uncertainty; moving year groups, changing schools, adapting to new routines, or navigating everyday changes at school - can have an even greater impact during periods of family illness.

This free webinar will explore how education leaders can help create supportive environments that recognise these experiences and respond with confidence and compassion.

Participants will leave with practical ideas and strategies to help:

  • Understand the different transitions and changes children and young people experience during their school day and educational journey
  • Support students through key transitions, including moving year groups and schools
  • Respond effectively when changes occur within the school environment
  • Strengthen communication and collaboration between home and school
  • Use reflective questions to support decision-making and planning
  • Start meaningful and supportive conversations with children and young people

A dedicated Q&A session will provide an opportunity to ask questions and share reflections.
