T Levels: What are they and who are they for?

This free-of-charge webinar is aimed at senior leaders, teachers and all other staff who need to understand the changing nature of vocational education in the sixth form phase - due to the implementation of T Levels and the defunding of BTECs and other vocational qualifications. It will be highly relevant for those involved in careers education information advice and guidance (CEIAG) activities in key stages 3 and 4, as well as for sixth form staff involved in post-16 curriculum planning and strategy.

T Levels in 16 vocational subject areas are now being delivered in schools and colleges across the country. The Government intends for T Levels to be rolled out in all 24 vocational and technical routes over the next few years and for T Levels to be the “qualification of choice”. The recent government consultation response on the defunding of BTECs and other level 3 qualifications mean that there is likely to be dramatic changes in provision in school sixth forms and colleges.

This webinar will enable delegates to understand how vocational policy has evolved to where it is now and how it is likely to evolve in the immediate future. In this fast-changing vocational landscape, the webinar will include the very latest government updates on T Levels implementation and planning.

Learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop all delegates will:

  1. understand how today’s post-16 vocational landscape has been shaped by government policies and priorities for skills and training since the turn of the century
  2. understand the likely implications of the recent government response to the  “Review of post-16 qualifications at level 3 and below” on their own school’s vocational and technical curriculum, particularly on BTECs and AGQs
  3. be aware of the range of T Levels and their timeline for implementation
  4. understand the key structure, content, assessment, awarding and grading of T Levels
  5. consider what their own school’s pupils need to know and understand about T Levels, in order for them to be able to make effective and fully-informed post-16 choices

Delivery
This webinar will be delivered by Kevin Gilmartin, ASCL Post-16 and Colleges Specialist, on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF).
