Leading On - Governance Reporting

When governance is working well, the executive team, which reports to governors and or trustees, understand governance, accountability, and how to report effectively. But where do they get this training?

Headteachers and CEOs have not always seen good practice, but they have the responsibility to help their colleagues. Without this, reporting can be poor, take disproportionate time in preparation, and bombard boards and committees with unnecessary details.

The session will:

  • Set out the context of good governance, including the roles of all board attendees.
  • Outline structure for good reporting.
  • Deliver a clear set of guidelines for reporting, including templates and how to deliver the report, which can be tweaked.
  • Consider the workload of all participants in board reporting.
  • Consider other sources of advice and help.
  • Give opportunities to share experiences and ask questions.

It is essential that participants leave with outline models to use and tweak to improve practice, deliver effectively and be time efficient.
