Being a Head: Prepare, survive and thrive in early headship

A toolkit coaching programme designed for leaders who want to develop the skills of running a school.

Learning and reflecting at the start of headship with the support of a coach is an excellent investment. ASCL offers a complete tailor-made coaching programme for leaders moving into headship, and which can be built around an individual's needs. This programme is suitable for all phases in education.

This flexible coaching programme can be online or in person, and gives the opportunity for an individual to ask questions, talk and share experiences in a safe environment.

A typical coaching consultancy can consist of three to six sessions which can be broken down into several parts.

The coaching programme will be run by ASCL consultant Steve Playford, Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Resilience at Work, and accredited trainer and coach. Steve has ten years' experience of headship and wide experience of coaching and mentoring new and aspiring headteachers.
