If you cannot find the answer to your question then please email pd@ascl.org.uk

A webinar is a web seminar. Webinars are a way for participants in many different locations to see and hear a presentation. A webinar typically consists of a moderator, one or more presenters, and the online audience.

Webinars will be advertised on the ASCL PD website and also in the ASCL and ASCL PD email newsletters.

ASCL PD webinars are competitively priced. We need to make a small charge to cover the operational and development costs. There is a choice of 2 packages.

An individual webinar price package of £50+VAT
A full package webinar price of £500+VAT

Our full package licence provides access to over 40 sessions, with more titles being added weekly. A licence provides access to both the live and recorded sessions for up to three members of staff per session (based on a single site institution licence).

An invoice will be emailed to the lead booker (authorised to make the booking) or to the organisation’s finance department.

Sign up from the ASCL PD website or follow the link in the marketing email. The lead booker will receive an acknowledgement automatically.

For the full package, when you select the package we do not need to know who is attending each webinar. We need just one contact per institution to be registered for the package and we will send this individual details of how their staff members can book places on each webinar.

Participation will be via Gotowebinar or Zoom and this will be made clear on the website and in your joining instructions. Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with the link to access the webinar. On the day of the webinar, click the link (about 10 minutes before the scheduled start time) using your name and email address.

Depending on your browser, check that Popups and File download are enabled. Click on the Add to Calendar button and accept the invitation.

You will need a computer with an Internet connection (high speed is recommended) or smart phone with a strong Wi-Fi connection, and speakers. You may also use a headset instead of speakers. More information on system requirements can be found below.

Yes, all live webinars will be recorded and the link to access live and pre-recorded webinars will be emailed to the registered participant along with any associated resources.

Webinars will be delivered in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or British Summer Time (BST).

The link to join is unique to the registered participant and should not be shared with anyone else. You are able to cancel your webinar registration at any time by going to the Cancel your registration link on the bottom of your Confirmation email.

If you wish to substitute a pre-registered delegate then contact pd@ascl.org.uk to make the name change. Please give as much notice as possible for this to be processed.

All registered participants will receive a link to the webinar recording and slides, however note that not all webinars will be recorded and this will be specified in the advertising.

During each live webinar you can ask a question by using the chat facility. Type your question into the question box that appears in the control panel. We will do our best to answer as many questions as possible.

You may email specific questions in advance to pd@ascl.org.uk Please remember to mention the webinar title in the subject line.

Our webinar offer is advertised on the ASCL PD website and details will also be emailed to those who have registered to receive information.

If you wish to suggest a topic, please email details to pd@ascl.org.uk

Please submit you interest by emailing pd@ascl.org.uk with details of your proposal.

Please contact marketing@ascl.org.uk and we will consider your request.

When you first receive your joining instructions for the session you have booked, which is usually a few days beforehand, we would strongly advise at that point that you make all necessary checks with your IT system and IT team against the system requirements for the platform being used.

Additional things to check include your firewalls and security and internet browsers and as the event is a webcast, you should also check your audio and video settings.

Please do not wait until just before the session before checking this as delays could mean you miss the start of the session.

If you are having technical difficulties when trying to access the live webinar session, please try the steps below before contacting ASCL PD.  Please bear in mind that it is difficult for PD staff to give advice remotely as we cannot see your computer screens or login to your local networks.

  • You can try accessing the webinar through another device, such as a smartphone or alternative computer.
  • You can try a different browser from your normal one
  • You can try a different wifi network from your normal one
  • You can try “tethering” your mobile phone to the system and using your mobile data
  • You could try registering for the session again, we have found that inaccuracies (such as spelling mistakes) when first registering for the session can make it difficult to then join the session on the day.
We will send a copy of the resources and recording (where available)  to all registered delegates within 48hrs of the session.

Although best efforts will be made, we are not able to guarantee that the webinar broadcast will be free of technical issues, and cannot be responsible for the ability of any individual technical set-up and equipment of individual delegates to be able to access video, audio or slides.  Failure to meet the technical requirements for which the participant is responsible does not release the participant from the contractual obligation to pay.
